The following is Friends of Freedom International's Mission Statement
Members of Friends of Freedom International believe that all human beings are born inherently free and equal in dignity and rights.
Human beings are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood as espoused by the values and principals of most major religions and philosophical belief systems around the world since the beginning of human societies.
Members of FOFI believe that no international, national, regional or local government or corporate entity, group, or person has the right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at limiting or destroying the ability of human beings to act freely with reason and conscience, particularly in the areas of informed freedom of choice in health care for themselves, their family and the animals they own.
1. FOFI members believe - that world trade rules and regulations for food, dietary food supplements and naturally-derived medicinal products should take into account the diverse needs of human beings, the impact on both small and large manufacturers and suppliers and be designed to focus on ensuring maximum access to the public of safe products and services.
Similar rules on a level playing field should apply to all foods, beverages, procedures, devices, especially chemical and synthetic products, procedures and devices as well that are designed for human or animal use.
2. FOFI members believe - that dietary food supplements, medicinal herb compounds and other naturally-derived medicinal products should be regulated as foods and be available in the market place with no limits such as dosage levels unless there is substantial proof to show that such limitations are needed to protect the public from proportionate harm referenced to actual deaths. Synthetic products, devices, procedures whether for humans or animals that by their nature may be toxic and foreign to human and animal bodies should be evaluated for safety and efficacy before they are allowed on the market and those toxic products now on the market should be properly evaluated.
3. FOFI members believe - that the average human being, given full access to all evidence pro and con has the intelligence to decide what supplements and medicines they should take and what medical and health modalities to use to restore and maintain their own health. It is essential that all people be provided with truthful and meaningful information from the widest range of sources possible in order to make informed decisions.
4. FOFI members believe - that the role of governments should be limited to making sure no false or fraudulent information is used to mislead the public, that products are properly labeled as to content and use, and that products are manufactured in a sanitary manner. Should there be substantial information available that a particular food or food substance is a serious risk to the public, the government should have the authority to either properly label the product to warn the public as to the risks or remove the product from the market altogether if the risks are too great.
5. FOFI members believe - that the practice of any healing art, whether it is based on modern biochemical science, modern physics, or on cultural traditions that are based on natural sciences or on religious or philosophical belief, should be equal in the eyes of the law and not judged by the standards of practice of other healing arts. Practices which are inherently risky such as surgery, radiation, use of toxic drugs and the like need strict regulation and detailed reporting of adverse effects which should be made available to the public. Practices that are generally safe and have no meaningful number of actual documented adverse effects should be allowed the widest latitude and be available to the public without unnecessary regulation. All deaths of every human person and animal should be carefully analyzed to collect data on actual cause of death for public information purposes.
6. FOFI members believe - that local, citizen-control of public health policy is the best way to meet the needs of human beings.
7. FOFI members believe - that local, citizen-controlled, private sector initiatives offer the most cost-effective way to provide medical and health services.
8. FOFI members believe - that governments, corporations and other organized entities created by human beings should be servants of human beings, not their masters, and as such, should not be granted "artificial person" status under the law or be granted any rights that are endowed to human beings by birthright.
9. FOFI members believe - that stockholders and owners of corporations should be held accountable for the actions of the corporation and not be shielded from responsibility through legal means.
We invite like-minded people to join with us in a worldwide effort to support these goals.
